Leafy Dream

Designed by Jauku Design. ”The idea of this project was to design a package for a jewelry tree. Main concept was to make a person, who is holding the package, feel familiar with the Jewlery Tree, that is inside it. We decided to choose an ecological and simple structure of the package, as it saves energy and time, needed to produce it. Also, we wanted to make it a little bit interactive, so person discovers the „content“ little by little, by performing opening actions. A great interest was payed to make this package suitable for post delivery, so it is strong and reliable and still meets the smallest sending requirements.”

Waste transformed into Art

Stuart Haygarth has collected waste that is being washed up on parts of Kent coastline. With this waste he has produced several objects. This chandelier is one of them and is mainly made of plastic objects. It’s incredible how much waste there is along the world’s coastlines, and amazing how Stuart managed to do something as beautiful as this chandelier of the ugly garbage. Supersize your eco-conscience

Superfry. Greece is for lovers created a paper recycling bin for Hartovasilion (Translated as Paper Kingdom).

The Ice tree

The impressive ”Ice tree”, made from 300 recycled water bottles. Created by the design firm Paprika. It´s hanging in the window of Montreal´s furniture store Domison throughout the holidays. The light is bouncing around through all the glass bottles, playful and nice reflections.

Not a box

Found this very simple and neat idea through The Dieline. David Graas from the Netherlands created the concept ”Not a box”. A package containing cables, bulb and manual - and voila, after unpacking it – transformed into a lamp. As simple as it can get.

Christmas Tree in a flat package

I´m already looking forward to Christmas. Thinking where I can find a Christmas tree… Buro North made a wooden version packaged flat in recycled paper material. They have even made a Life Cycle Assessment and compared this tree with a traditional pine tree. This wooden one is 80% more environmentally friendly according to their report. it is made with environmentally aware ingredients, they are CNC-routed (low energy production technique). Take small space in the transport. What´s most sustainable with it - you can use it next year again….For me, often travelling over Christmas – this is perfect! It will still be there in good shape when I get back. What I more like with this tree – it´s not trying to imitate a pine tree, it has it´s own characteristics, nicely done!

Blightster

Same theme as Gardener’s pulp lamp below. Rodrigo Alonso from Chile made this Blightster. The lamp incorporates the packaging in the product design and by that reduces waste to a minimum. He uses thermoforming, same technique that is used to produce blister packaging…blister+light=blightster. Ok, using PVC is probably not the best move to promote it as environmental friendly. But it’s a brilliant integration with the product and it reduces handling steps and waste for the consumers.

Paper Pulp Lamp

David Gardener created this lamp. It’s inspired of the paper pulp packaging which the electronic industry is using for transporting components.
