Designed by the Indian Agency Happy Creative Services: ”With the relevance of eco-friendly initiatives increasing every day, Lee wanted an innovative solution that would display their affiliation towards the same and also spread the message amongst their customers. To drive the message home in a fun and effective way, we went for something a bit more inventive than just a bag made of recycled paper. The ‘Never Wasted’ shopping bag that can be reused in one way or another. Some for fun, some for function, but nothing ever goes into the trash. Not only did this make the idea long-lasting and interactive but also conveyed the message in a fascinating manner. A surge in interest from patrons forced us to produce 100 times more bags than the initial production of 3,000 bags.”
El Designo made brand identity for the concept store Carbon Boutique. The store is named Carbon to show a sense of community. Carbon is the one element on the periodic table that is responsible for all organic life. Everything is linked by this one element: people, trees, the planet. The store is a place for people to come together, share ideas, and find healthier alternatives for their homes and their lives. Everything is completely tree-free, using only certified 100% post-consumer waste recycled papers. This is the first store of its kind in Edmonton, a high end, custom designed eco-store that carries everything from zero-VOC paint to organic cosmetics.

Baggu Bag. A whole bunch of simple and good-looking bags here. The first one is a re-usable bag which has the same design as a standard plastic bag, but holds the content of 2-3 grocery bags. You also have the net bag for veggies, which keeps your green stuff fresh. Last the duck bag which is suitable for all kinds of usage; books, groceries, laptop – an allround bag made of 100& recycled cotton canvas.
Claesson Koivisto Rune are the designers behind this reusable shopping bag. The non-profit organisation Stockholm City Mission, receives 16 tonnes every year of donated fabrics and clothing that are not suitable to be sold. So this material – together with same structural design as current plastic bags – creates this new, green alternative to the plastic bag.
60Bag – Biodegrades in 60 days. The bag is made of flax-viscose non-woven fabric and was developed and manufactured in Poland. The flax-Viscose fabric is produced with flax fiber industrial waste, which means it doesn’t exploit any natural resources and requires minimal energy during its production. In January this year 60Bag was honoured with the Green Dot Award
The Lisbon-based design studio Krv Kurva has made this reusable bag. Shaped like a teardrop and with a whole bunch of different nice graphics. The bag is constructed from Dupont’s material called Tyvek (water, radioactive, and bio-hazard resistant). Thinner than one millimeter and weighing less than 40 grams, this bag is able to hold up to 55kg easily, while still being machine washable.
Ecolect is a site for green material innovation. Among the news you find Envi PC 50 Shopping Bag, which is designed for luxury retailers seeking to improve the eco-profile of their packaging. The material contains 50% post consumer recycled fiber and 50% FSC fiber. The FSC label means the paper is made only with virgin fiber that comes from a forest certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
2 different bag collections made by Camille Rousseau. She is transforming the standard shopping bags into something beautiful and communicative, using them to tell a story. The two bags on the top are for EDF Energy, a sustainable energy company. The second concept is called Transition. She explains the project:
”Dealing with the preconception of this consumer icon, I took the surface of a carrier bag to capture a moment, taking the object as a passing reflection of the city. The ephemeral object becomes a witness of time and space. In selecting details of the city and linking an individual story to each bag, I aim to recreate a stage showing several perspectives of the city. I wanted a physical link between the drawings and the reality. The set itself becomes the city; connecting people to different locations.”
Envirosax shopping bags. On their web page you can read it’s just a matter of time until we all have to change our habits, from disposable plastic bags to reusable bags. It’s also something we should teach the next generation. And instead of using your retailer’s bag, which is part of their advertising campaign, Envirosax is selling bags with different graphic themes. If I understood it right, they will also, in short, offer customized bags.
